INDIANAPOLIS – June 11, 2020 – DuJuan McCoy, owner, president, and CEO of Circle City Broadcasting (parent
company of WISH-TV and MyINDY-TV 23) today announced the launch of “We Stand Together” – a multifaceted
campaign aimed at creating unity, peace, and equality in response to the anti-racism movement in Indianapolis.
“Day of Solidarity – We Stand Together,” a statewide event initiated by Eli Lilly and Company will take place Saturday, June 13. The event will bring people and organizations together to acknowledge the trauma of racial injustice, understand its many forms, and create a call to action for lasting change. The pinnacle of the day, a 30 minute television special, will be broadcast and live streamed by WISH-TV, and partners at the Indianapolis Recorder and Radio One at noon. “Day of Solidarity – We Stand Together,” is hosted by longtime Indianapolis television anchor Angela Cain, and will feature commentary from community leaders including Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, Indianapolis City-County Council member Maggie Lewis, Kennedy King Memorial Institute Executive Director Darryl Lockett, and Eli Lilly CEO David Ricks. Saturday’s “Day of Solidarity” broadcast will be available wherever you watch WISH-TV, including free over the air broadcast via antenna and via livestream at WISHTV.com and on Facebook.
“WISH-TV is committed to giving voice to underserved populations in the state of Indiana,” said McCoy. “We are extremely honored to have been approached by Lilly as a collaborator on this campaign. As an Indianapolis native and African American owner of a local television station, I can affirm that WISH-TV, and its platforms, will remain committed to furthering discussions of change that allow us to pursue peace, justice, and liberty for all residents of the Circle City regardless of race.”
WISH-TV’s News 8 will simultaneously launch a new daily “We Stand Together” segment airing Monday through Friday during News 8 at 10pm. “We Stand Together” aims to give voice to a diverse group of stakeholders and will feature an interview with a different community leader each night. After their initial broadcast, these segments will be available on demand at WISHTV.com and All INdiana Podcast Network, as well as being available for use by our news gathering and media partners at the Indianapolis Recorder and Radio One.
