INDIANAPOLIS – October 3, 2019 – DISH subscribers may lose, locally owned and locally operated, WISH-TV and MyINDY-TV 23 forever, if an agreement is not reached by 6:59PM (EST), on Friday October 4, 2019.
Last month, Circle City Broadcasting announced the acquisition of WISH-TV and MyINDY-TV 23, making the two stations Central Indiana’s only locally owned and operated television stations. Since the acquisition, Circle City Broadcasting’s attempt to reach a new agreement with DISH has been unsuccessful. By law, without an agreement, WISH-TV and MyINDY-TV 23 would not be able to be on DISH after 6:59PM (EST), on Friday October 4, 2019.
WISH-TV and MyINDY-TV 23 are important assets to the Central Indiana community. WISH-TV provides viewers 75 hours per week of local news and local programming, more than any other television station in Indiana, and among the most of any station in the country. MyINDY-TV provides a bevy of local and regional sports, including live local high school football games, Indy Eleven, and Indiana Fever. After 6:59PM (EST), Friday October 4, 2019, these stations’ premier news, weather, traffic, political coverage, sports, and other national programming that’s important to viewers may be unavailable to DISH subscribers.
In the event that WISH-TV and MyINDY-TV are no longer carried by DISH, viewers may continue to watch their favorite local programming over-the-air via antenna or by switching to an alternative pay-TV provider.
