INDIANAPOLIS – February 24, 2020 – WISH-TV, the CW affiliate, owned by Circle City Broadcasting and serving the Indianapolis, IN market (DMA #25), announced the station will broadcast a live, televised news event, City in Crisis - A Crime Watch 8 Special. This hour-long special event will engage civic leaders, law enforcement, and community activists with viewers in an in-depth discussion about how the city’s crime rate has climbed to its current level and what can be done to help make the city safer.

“WISH-TV is committed to using our platforms to connect community leaders and citizens in an effort to reduce violent crime,” said Indianapolis native DuJuan McCoy, owner, president, and CEO of Circle City Broadcasting. “We are all concerned about the rising rate of crime in our city, and we hope this

conversation will spark positive change. Ultimately, we all just want a safer place to live.”

City in Crisis – A Crime Watch 8 Special will air live, commercial free, Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00p.m. EDT and will also stream live on WISHTV.com and Facebook. Guests in the studio will include representatives from the City of Indianapolis Mayor’s Office, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, neighborhood and civic organizations, as well as community members whose lives have been affected by crime. News 8 anchors Brooke Martin and Phil Sanchez will host the hour-long special and bring questions from viewers directly to city leaders.

Indiana’s only multicultural reporter, Katiera Winfrey, will also take a deeper dive into community reaction to the culture of crime in the Circle City. “What can be done to curb the rising number of murders? What can the city do? How can citizens help?” asked Al Carl, news director for WISH-TV. “These are the kinds of questions we’re hoping to address in this forum. Additionally, we’re asking viewers to submit their questions and concerns as well. We won’t find the answers in one hour, but we’re hoping this can be a catalyst toward real solutions in the city.”

During the broadcast, questions for the panel can be submitted via Facebook. An encore presentation of City in Crisis – A Crime Watch 8 Special will also air Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. on MyINDY-TV 23.
